I‘m that pitiful excuse of a woman that doesn’t give much thought or attention to her jewellery. It’s 7am and I’m not thinking about whether a gold or silver signet ring would suit my outfit so instead, I just wear the same pieces 24/7. I wake up, I shower and I go to bed wearing my everyday jewellery, aka a gold necklace and 2 or 3 rings if I’m pushing it. However, I can ALWAYS be seen with a watch on darling.
In fact, I would go as far to say that I feel naked without a watch gripping onto my wrist. I’d dabbled in high street designs for a few years until I decided to invest in a couple more expensive timepieces. My latest being the ADEXE ‘They Grande Silver & Chocolate Brown’ watch, which is utterly gorgeous. It’s a unisex design that might be a tad bit oversized for my baby wrists but you know what, I like that. For months now I’ve been eyeing up several different watches that have a black face and eventually I came across this one when I was approached by ADEXE. I absolutely adore the black and brown contrast across the watch, including the face hands which have a copper reflection to them – what a fab bonus!
As part of their ‘Taking Ownership’ campaign, I collaborated on this post with them. You can find out more about the campaign and the watch styles here. It’s a subject that’s been going around my head more often than not lately – owning your style.
If you head over to my previous post, you can read about why I’ve recently decided that enough is enough when it comes to following stereotypes. I talked about forgetting society’s pressures to fit in and wanting to be myself and own my style. Choosing this particular watch reflects my, generally, quite masculine fashion sense. It’s bulky, it’s bold and it smoothly takes the perfect place in my wardrobe. Especially in the A/W season we’re entering right now.
After throwing multiple hangers around my room and chucking all the clothes I own into different piles, I narrowed it down to one outfit that I thought complemented the ‘THEY’ watch in it’s best light. LEOPARD PRINT BABY! Keeping it classic since ’00! Haha, jokes aside, it took me a while to come around to this trend. I’m sure you’re all aware of the Pat Butcher comparisons! That is what I felt like and to be truthful, I still do but I kinda dig it. She was one sassy lady, why wouldn’t you want to have a boujee Pat moment?
Following the bold theme of my ADEXE, I paired it with this (insanely) bold leopard print, faux fur coat. What a mouthful! I think the two pieces complement each other fabulously, not that little bit too over the top. Just because I was born to be Parisian, I added my baker boy hat – at least I didn’t go overboard with a beret! While struggling to find bottoms for this look, I finally came across a very old leather skirt I picked up in my secondary school days. Doesn’t that seem like a lifetime ago? You’d be right if you guessed I was that quiet/nerdy/oddball of a kid so I didn’t get invited to all the hip n’ happenin’ parties which meant I sadly never wore this skirt. Didn’t waste it though did we? Sustainable fashion, I’m coming for you. Then to top it all, I kept it simple with a beige-bardot top. No distractions!
Of course there were many contender outfits but you’ll see them all on my Instagram soon. This watch isn’t just a trend or a good spon I bagged, I honestly adore it so much that I hardly swap it off. Be prepared to zoom in to find it on all my next outfit posts!
What’s your must-wear accessory? Do you have an unnecessarily large collection of watches like myself? Let me know down below my loves!
