Coming to you from…never-mind, I’m sat at home in my Aristocat pyjamas gawking at my Instagram feed, NOT at fashion week. *cries in leopard print* Even if I am in this state, I can still get involved in one of my favourite months of the year which has brought this post to you. It’s a given I love fashion so I’ll be doing this for London, Milan and Paris as well to keep you updated on the craziest trends and must-wear brands for this season. Don’t panic, it’s not ALL animal print!
You can’t have A/W street style without an abundance of beige, 50 shades of beige if you will. It’s modest, it’s timeless but it allows for a bit of spicing up especially during these prestigious events. Red was the IT-colour for 2017 and evidently it’s decided to stick around. Together it’s a dreamy colour palette, then combined with a simple white boot you’ve got yourself a bangin’ outfit!
I’m utterly bored of all black, in-fact you won’t have seen me wear all black in way over a year. Someway or another I pop a bit of colour in, after all if Anna Wintour doesn’t approve then it’s gone. Trash! Although I’m being dramatic for comedic effect (can we call it comedy?) it is true, black can get tedious real quick so even just adding a blazer on top can work wonders. For me, I’m all about rust/tan/brown or whatever you want to call it. It’s beige on steroids so get looking on the high street for various rust-coloured pieces.
Now we’re getting serious. Coats for me are another woman’s handbags. They are my pride and joy, currently being proudly displayed on their own rack in my wardrobe. I’m the first to admit that I have a problem, I buy one and another one pops up a week later but we all have that one thing that we collect right? So as you can imagine, I’m seeking out all the best outerwear pieces on the streets for fashion week. From vinyl to plaid, to puffer jackets and to animal prints. I’ll take them all please!
Each year fashion seems to get more daring and this year did not disappoint. In particular, the coats get crazier and again I am NOT complaining. It’s so effortless to chuck on a fun jacket when you can’t be arsed to put together a whole outfit underneath. To be honest, I’d never even thought of a floral duster until I saw Eva Chen wearing this two piece below. Could this be a new thing, floral coats?
The blacks, greys and beiges are long gone around here because colour says HELLO! I can’t even believe I’m this excited about it because 16-year-old Phoebe was a borderline goth. Head to toe black! Nonetheless, some of my absolute favourite looks from New York have been a mix-match of clashing colours. The colder tones seem to be the go-to during the Autumn season which is why we can see lots of greens, blues and purples this year. Purple particularly is going to be big hit this year I think!
I’ve also spotted a lot of western themed looks and the marmite piece that is cowboy boots! What’s your take on them? I’m not going to lie, I couldn’t stand the sight of them at first but Aimee Song has given me hope.
That’s a wrap New York, next up is LONDON BABY! Who is your style icon during fashion week? I adore miss Song of Style, I’m so eager to see what she pulls off in Paris.
