Natural Everyday Makeup

Warning: In the following pictures you are about to see a no-makeup faced Phoebe who looks like an extra you’d find in The Walking Dead…please tell me how to get shot of these eye bags!

Today’s post is a little different and probably a one off because I am not the new NikkieTutorials or anything but I think I can share a few simple makeup tips and recommendations for the average gal like me. My everyday makeup is (hence the title) very natural because, to put it bluntly, I cannot be bothered to spend more than 30mins sitting in-front of a mirror trying to perfect two identical wings! Saying that though, if I’m having a night out why the hell not get glam for a change? It’s my chance to go all out!

New Look (this is gorgeousss)

Primer

First lets start with a good ol’ primer and the one I use is The Body Shop ‘All-In-One Instablur Universal’. This is the stuff guys and gals! After seeing every blogger and vlogger raving about this product, I picked it up and yes…it is that good. I love it for a no-makeup day too because it evens out your skin and mattifies it! It’s also got a lavvvley silky feel to it and blurs those damn pores. I can’t vouch for the help it gives to keeping makeup on because I rarely wear makeup for more than 5 hours but it certainly doesn’t make it any worse.

Foundation

On a good day when I don’t have to be up at a ridiculous hour, I’ll put on a bit of foundation but this isn’t necessarily everyday because sometimes concealer just does the job! However, when I do wear foundation I use the Revlon ‘ColorStay Makeup For Normal/Dry Skin’ which I cannot recommend enough!I’m shade Ivory. Foundation has never been my best friend so I pretty much gave up for a few years because I was fed up with dry patches and the look of obviously caked-on product but one day I got the urge to pick this up in Boots and I haven’t regretted it a day since. Flawless I tell you…just flawless. I adore this product and at £12.99 I mean come on? A quick little mention to Rimmel’s ‘Stay Matte Pressed Powder‘ too (in translucent) because that’s fab!

Concealer

I won’t bang on about this next product for too long because I know for sure you’ve heard of it a million times before. It’s the Collection ‘Lasting Perfection Concealer’. It’s great. It covers everything. It lasts. 10/10 recommend! I use shade Fair.

Bronzer & Highlight (aka the best part)

Who doesn’t love a good bronze? I have near-paper-white skin so for me, it’s a must. I use the Estee Lauder ‘Bronze Goddess‘ and it’s a WOW! (I’ve been watching too much Patricia Bright) I’m not gonna lie to you, this one breaks the bank a little but it lasts foreverrrr so I can justify it…most times. Pop it on my temples, forehead, cheeks, jaw so all over really haha! Even for a bit of crease eyeshadow! It blends like a dream and doesn’t look orange which is my worst nightmare! As for highlight, I use the Benefit ‘High Beam Liquid Highlighter‘ in a mini size because I don’t think I’ll reach the day that I run out of this! I’m not a fan of powder highlighters because they have a tendency to look glittery and cake-y but I’m all for a cream or liquid! My favourite look is a natural glow and this achieves that all by itself!

Eyebrows

Oh eyebrows, what a love/hate relationship we have. They really do frame the face but MY GOD, what a pain they are to do!! I can’t leave the house unless my eyebrows don’t resemble an upside down Nike tick –

blending out harsh lines is the ultimate bane of my life! My brow product is constantly changing but I always seem to go back to the trusty Urban Decay ‘Naked Basics Palette’. I use a mix between the colours ‘Faint’ and ‘Crave’ which makes a perfect match for my hair colour. I find eyeshadow/powder to be the most natural looking technique and to use tiny upward strokes!

Mascara

Right…I have been wearing makeup for over 5 years and still have yet to find the perfect mascara – please leave some recommendations in a comment! I currently use Maybelline ‘Great Lash’ and it does what I need but it’s not amazing you know? Maybe I just have stubborn, straight lashes!

Lips

And finally, the last thing is a lippy! I often won’t wear anything but lip balm but if I’m feeling extra I’ll wack out none other than Mac ‘Velvet Teddy’It’s a classic and I don’t think I need to say anymore. I’ve gone through countless tubes of this in my lifetime! That’s it, nothing special, but I hope I could help some of you if you’re looking to try out some new products! Let me know what’s the one product you can’t live with out, I might need to do some makeup shopping tonight!

  1. That’s such a pretty, refreshing look!

  2. I’m a big fan of the Revlon ColourStay Foundation, although I wear it in the Combination / Oily version which is apparently really different to the Normal / Dry type?! Maybeline Great Lash was the first makeup product I ever used, it brings back a lot of memories.. 🙊

You look so beautiful in these photos! Collection Lasting Perfection has been my holy grail concealer for as long as I can remember! I really want to try that Revlon foundation as I’ve heard great things about it! I’m exactly the same I’ve tried loads of mascaras over the years but never found one that stands out as being amazing!

This is such a pretty look. Your skin looks beautiful too. My favourite mascara is le volume de Chanel. Pricey but I always go back to it and it’s the only mascara I’ve ever loved enough to buy more than once! x
