We all know suits are the new go-to for this season – talk about a trend! The high-street shelves are rapidly updating their collections and my Instagram feed is suit central right now but hey…I’m not mad about it! Styling suits (as a non-office-working-teenager) is a challenge which is what I am all here for in the fashion industry. I’ve found they’re so easy to alter to any style which is why I want to show my favourite looks to suit (we love a good pun) anyone. It’s only in the last few months that I’ve warmed up to the typical grey, checkered style though because before then, I wouldn’t have gone anywhere it. Even a pastel pant-suit was pushing it for me. The idea of wearing a smart, work suit that looked as if my mum picked it up from her weekly Marks & Sparks trip was cringe-worthy for 14-year-old Phoebe. Now look at me…in half my photos I’ve got a bloody blazer on! It’s all about how you style it though and that can go for pretty much anything actually! I’ve shot 4 different outfits to show you how you can go from a casual Sunday lunch attire to a night out in tha town! For each outfit, I’ve paired it with my new Boohoo Ayda suit which I talked about in my April Monthly Motivation post – I can now share that it is fab! I’ll link everything else I feature too.
For the first look, I decided to incorporate both pieces of the suit to make this lovely co-ord! Ordinarily, you’d see this worn at a desk in a business meeting but times have changed and this is the new everyday ladies and gents! Instead of the typical white shirt underneath, I’ve done a 180 and opted for this red t-shirt underneath. It immediately gives the boring suit vibe a bit of spice and I’m living for it! Red was the it-colour for 2017 but I don’t think it’s going anytime soon, it’s such a stand out addition to any outfit – even a basic tee!
You’ll see after a few more fashion posts that I love to co-ordinate colours in my outfits, so I added some BOMB red boots which (p.s) are my absolute favourite things right now. I wish I had a photo of them to show but it was beyond blurry, all you could make out was some red and grey which isn’t ideal! I’m sure you’ll see them featured all over my Instagram soon though, my favourite purchase as of April.
This outfit…wow. I feel like a boss wearing this, I can’t say anything more to justify how great it is! The title just says it all, the ultimate chic. I got a few compliments this day from strangers so I think it’s fair to say that I will spend everyday for the rest of my life in this look. No regrets. It’s a timeless look but dare I say it…with a modern take on it. Taking a chunky belt to the blazer brings your waist in to emphasise your figure; sometimes with a baggy piece like this, your shape can be lost so this is a great way to bring it back. The full outfit is already such a statement so I kept to a monochromatic palette (or maybe it’s just because I only wear black, who knows?) Nothing says chic like an all black fit to me! On the other hand, this doesn’t mean you can’t play around with different textures and prints which is what I’ve done to pull everything together. The blazer obviously being the key piece; checkered, plaid. You can’t go wrong with some extra sass from a bootie either, so I added these patent ones as another texture.
Now going back to a slightly more everyday-wearable outfit with this hoodie-culotte combo. I love this look because it’s so easy to throw together, it’s a joke. Grab your favourite hoodie and some smart trousers and you’re good to go. No need for rushing around your floordrope in the early morning! Ideally, I’d have a plain white hoodie with no red print to distract from the other pieces but you win some and you lose some. Never the less, I still wear this outfit a lot – it’s so simple yet it shows that you think about your fits! To tie everything together, I added some classic white Converse and (again, keeping monochrome) a stripe belt which has almost got an athleisure style to it! And we all know how huge the street-wear/athleisure trend has become in the past year…I can’t lie I really love it! Who else has two fashion alter-egos? Mine are definitely feminine chic and streetwear – polar opposites I know haha!

Unfortunately, due to this sh*t weather we’re having, I couldn’t go out and shoot a full outfit photo for this one which is so irritating because this is for sure one of my faves! It’s nothing new to spice up a feminine outfit with some leather for an edgy vibe but it’ll also never get tired! I’m 100% going to shoot in this outfit soon because I adore it, it’s right up my street. I’ve never been a typical girly-girl but I do LOVE my fashion so combining two styles into one is a perfect option for me. Fun fact, I used to despise leather…a lot. Whenever I would see a leather jacket, I would run for the hills but as I’ve grown up so has my style (what a surprise!) I’m now pairing every outfit I wear with a leather jacket; I still think it’s quite a tricky piece to style though. Anyway, for this look, a white turtleneck and leather mini skirt couldn’t have fitted the classic blazer any better. (Imagine a belt being in place of those belt holes, I lost it RIP) To match the silver hardware on the skirt, I added a dainty silver necklace which tops everything off!
This is my first fashion post and I already know I’ll be doing tonnes more, I absolutely loved shooting and styling these! I think outfit 2 & 4 are my favourites at the moment, but as we’re heading into summer soon I’m sure I’ll be reaching for 1 & 3 a lot more. Which one is your favourite? Do you own or are you lusting after a suit right now?
